Back to Balance

From Chaos to Calm: How I’m Resetting This Fall

August always brings a subtle shift—the air is still warm, but something begins to stir. It’s a month caught between movement and stillness, and this is where the medicine lies: finding stillness in the shift.
Calendars start filling. School supplies appear. The ease of summer gives way to the start of something new.

At my massage studio, I feel it in nearly every session: tight shoulders, shallow breathing, minds racing toward what’s next. Whether you’re a parent prepping for back-to-school, a teacher bracing for full classrooms, or simply adjusting to the collective “back-to-it” buzz, your body is likely carrying more than you realize.

That’s why this month, I’m inviting you to come Back to Balance.

Featured Treatment: Stillness & Strength – Deep Roots Massage

This is not a rush-through-it kind of massage. It’s slow, steady, and rooted in intention.

We begin with grounding oils like vetiver and cedarwood, anchoring you in the present while easing tension in the neck, shoulders, hips, and low back—those classic stress zones.

From there, I work deeper—incorporating breathwork, unhurried pressure, and nervous system-regulating techniques to reconnect you with your own inner stability.
The session unfolds slowly: warm compresses, deep rhythmic strokes, soft lighting, and the gentle scent of earth-focused oils. It’s an experience designed to remind your body that it’s safe to release and soften.

To complete the reset, I use Carnelian Body Oil—a warm, herbal blend infused with an embedded Carnelian gemstone. Known for its vibration of empowerment, creativity, and grounded vitality, carnelian helps anchor scattered thoughts while reigniting inner fire and motivation. The blend of cardamom, ginger root, jasmine, and skin-loving oils nourishes your body from the inside out.

Why This Treatment Matters Now

Fall is a transitional season—and transitions have a way of stirring things up internally.

In Ayurveda, this time of year increases Vata energy: cool, windy, mobile, quick.
When Vata rises, we often feel:

– scattered or overstimulated
– overwhelmed by small tasks
– tightness in the shoulders, jaw, or low back
– restlessness or disrupted sleep
– shallow breathing
– a sense of “floating” or being ungrounded

Grounding work isn’t a luxury in fall—it’s a necessity.

This treatment helps you:

✔ restore stability in a time of change
✔ ground your nervous system
✔ reconnect to your body
✔ release what’s quietly built up all summer

This isn’t just about feeling good in the moment—it’s about creating a rhythm that sustains you as the seasons shift.

Signs Your Body Is Asking for a Reset

– You wake up tired even with a full night’s sleep
– Your thoughts feel fast or scattered
– You’ve been living in “go mode”
– Your jaw, neck, or shoulders stay tight
– You feel overstimulated or emotionally reactive
– You’re craving quiet but can’t seem to access it
– You’ve been moving through your days on autopilot

If you see yourself in even one of these, your body is asking for grounding—before the pace of fall pulls you deeper into overwhelm.

How I’m Resetting, Too

This time of year doesn’t just affect my clients—it affects me too.

I’ve noticed my breath gets shallow when I’m moving too fast. My shoulders rise with tension after a day of holding space for others. That’s why I’m recommitting to stillness: evening walks, tech-free mornings, saying “yes” to less—and “yes” to myself more.

Last week, I found myself rushing between appointments, my mind already racing toward September—still trying to squeeze in the last golden bits of summer. That evening, while preparing dinner for my daughter, I felt that familiar hustle creep in: the pressure to get it all done. My breath was shallow. My jaw was tight. I felt depleted.

So I shifted the energy.

We ate dinner outside.
We changed into pajamas and carried our bedtime books to the patio.
After reading, we lay down under the stars.

I stretched out on the earth, one hand on my heart and one on my belly, giving myself the same presence I offer my clients. Five minutes. That’s all it took to shift from frantic to grounded.

I noticed a shift in my daughter, too. She fell asleep easily and peacefully, under the stars with her mama. I carried her to bed and tucked her in.

We all have moments when we lose connection with ourselves. The key is creating simple rituals that help us return.

A Simple At-Home Grounding Ritual

Here’s one of my favorite practices—gentle, accessible, and incredibly regulating:

  1. Place one hand on your heart and one on your low belly.

  2. Inhale for 4 counts.

  3. Exhale for 6 counts.

  4. Feel your shoulder blades soften.

  5. Relax your jaw and your tongue.

  6. Let your breath slow your entire body down.

One minute of conscious breath can shift an entire evening.

Massage isn’t just my profession—it’s my medicine. For giving and for receiving.
And I’ve come to believe that slowing down isn’t optional.
It’s essential if we want to stay rooted in our purpose and present for what matters.

Your Invitation

If your calendar is full…
If your mind feels cluttered…
If your body has been whispering (or shouting) for attention…

Come back to your breath.
Come back to your body.
Come back to balance.

Your body already knows what it needs.
If you’re ready to listen—I’m here.

August Mantra

“Root down to rise up.”
The deeper you connect to your body now, the stronger your foundation will be for whatever’s next.

Let’s make space—for stillness, for strength, for you.
