From Maine to the Massage Table
Release & Replenish
A Season for Letting Go, Slowing Down, and Coming Home to Yourself
This fall, my daughter and I flew home to Maine to spend time with my mom in the house where I was raised. Every time I go back, something inside me softens—the air feels slower there, and life moves to the rhythm of the tides.
In past years, I’d try to fit it all in: spending time with old friends, eating at my favorite restaurants, checking off the long list of things I thought I should do. But this time was different. I chose to slow down.
We spent our days exploring the property where I grew up—catching caterpillars, climbing trees, and picking apples that smelled like childhood. We baked cookies, harvested vegetables from the garden, made messy crafts at the kitchen table, and walked barefoot in the grass while the wind whispered through the pines.
We took quiet trips to the ocean, collecting shells and sea glass, walking the smooth, salt-cured rocks, toes in the sand as the waves hummed their steady song. At the lake, Freya chased minnows while I watched the glassy surface ripple with light, loons calling softly in the distance.
Being home reminded me that healing doesn’t always come in grand moments—it often arrives in the quiet ones. Bare feet in the grass. Apple-scented air. The steady hush of the ocean. I was reminded of the power of slowing down, listening, and allowing life to move through you instead of always trying to move ahead of it.
The Energetics of October
In Ayurveda, October marks the height of Vata season—a time ruled by wind, movement, cold, and change.
This is when we tend to feel:
– more anxious or on edge
– scattered or overstimulated
– emotionally tender
– physically dry or tense
– disconnected from routine
– craving warmth, grounding, and stillness
When Vata rises, slowing down isn’t indulgent—it’s essential medicine.
How You Know It’s Time to Release
Your body doesn’t shout at first—it whispers:
– Your breath feels shallow
– Your shoulders tense without you noticing
– You wake up tired
– You’re replaying thoughts or conversations
– Your digestion feels “off”
– You’re forgetting little things
– You feel heavy emotionally but “buzzy” mentally
– You’re craving silence or warmth but can’t access it
Even one of these signals is enough.
A handful is your body saying: It’s time to let go.
Ayurvedic Let-Go Ritual
October’s Featured Treatment
Inspired by that Maine homecoming, this month’s treatment is the Ayurvedic Let-Go Ritual—a grounding, Vata-balancing massage designed to calm the nervous system, support emotional release, and ease seasonal anxiety.
Slow, warm, and deeply nurturing, this ritual includes:
Warm herbal oils that ground, hydrate, and soothe
Slow rhythmic strokes that calm Vata and settle the mind
Gentle craniosacral holds to release emotional tension
Warm stones melting away shoulder and back tightness
Breathwork to reconnect you with your inner rhythm
The room is warm and softly lit.
The oils are herbal and earthy—comforting, grounding.
Warm stones glide with a weight that feels like exhaling.
The pace is slow and intentional, inviting your whole system to soften.
This is not a treatment you rush through.
It’s a safe, intentional space for your body to release what it’s been quietly holding.
After Your Session: Integration Suggestions
After your massage, take your time—your system will be in a state of softness and openness. Integration is part of the ritual:
– Take a slow walk
– Journal even a few sentences
– Sip warm water or tea
– Wrap yourself in a blanket or shawl
– Sit quietly in your favorite place
– Move gently and stay off your phone
Let your integration unfold softly, in your own time.

You Don’t Have to Power Through
When we pause long enough to listen, our bodies tell us exactly what they need. This season, I’m noticing how much we all carry—silently.
The mental fatigue.
The emotional load.
The tension hiding between breaths.
Massage offers more than release—it offers a homecoming.
It’s where your nervous system remembers safety.
It’s where your breath deepens again.
It’s where you remember: you don’t have to do it all alone.
If your body is asking for warmth, grounding, or release, my table is ready for you.
Let October be your reminder that slowing down isn’t weakness—it’s wisdom.
This season, may you find time to wander slowly, breathe deeply, and listen—to the ocean, to the wind, to your own quiet voice within.
